Yihui has always believed that “the person who doesn’t pay in effort will receive retribution”. This has made her very dependable, aspiring, and fearless of difficulties. She studied Environmental Science in Renming University and applied for her dual-degree in Resources and Environmental Economics. This equips her to analyze environmental problems from a more thorough perspective because of the background in economics and management.
Yihui wants to be an environmental scientist in the future. She finds experiments most interesting because she can use her own innovative thoughts to explore the unknown and improve her ability of self-learning. Conducting experiments has had a great influence on her, because self-designed experiments have shaped her into a more independent, careful and tough person, whether it be in her academic or daily life. Yihui has finished her undergraduate study at Renimin University in 2018 and will pursue a master degree in Environmental Health Sciences at Yale University in 2019. Although Yihui is a serious woman when it comes to academics, she is never monotonous in daily life. She appreciates wonderful books and films and really enjoys their poetic beauty. She gets energy from all types of activities. She also likes trying to know more about the world by analyzing news or articles in a logical way rather than following the trends. Additionally, she is very active in participating in different types of community service activities, such as teaching in rural schools, building a small systematized library with donated books for poor children and organizing an inspirational summer camp for rural high school students. “The Qian Zheng Memorial Scholarship has helped me very much in my personal development. QZMS helps me improve my English abilities, provides training on leadership, public speaking and career development, and always supports me to pursue my career goals abroad.” |
